  • Develop, adopt, enforce, oversee, and/or implement policies and procedures on a range of student affairs issues such as class absenteeism, refund appeals, and withdrawals.
  • Coordinate and enforce dean of students policies and procedures, and ensure compatibility with locally operating policies university-wide.
  • Determine and interpret student services needs on an individual basis, and initiate referrals to appropriate student and/or academic services; advise students on policy issues, acts as student advocate, and resolves problems as necessary.
  • Collect and analyze statistical data, and develop reports, reporting systems to evaluate effectiveness of programs and services.
  • Prepare, edit, and revise Dean of Student policies to suit a variety of university contexts and formats.
  • Plan and arrange social, cultural, and recreational activities of various student groups, according to university policies and regulations:
  • Schedule events to prevent overlapping and coordinate activities with sports and other university programs.
  • Conduct Orientation for new students with other members of staff and faculty.
  • Advise student groups on methods for improving their organizations.
  • Promote student participation in social, cultural and recreational activities.
  • Identify industry speakers for career guidance talks/presentations/trainings/public lectures.
  • Target employer events to help inform students on relevant sectors for placement.
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned by the Vice Chancellor.

The incumbent is responsible for developing and implementing audit plans of internal business processes, application systems and general controls.

ACADEMIC AND PROFESSIONAL QUALIFICATIONS/ TRAINING AND WORK EXPERIENCE

  • Masters degree in Business and a Bachelor’s preferably in Accounting Option.
  • Minimum of 3 years experience in an academic environment
  • Advanced computer and internet search skills
  • Membership to a professional body
  • Professional qualifications, CPA (K), CPS

KNOWLEDGE AND COMPETENCIES

  • Good interpersonal/communication skills
  • Good organization skills
  • Competency in specialized field of teaching
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Prudent, able to work under pressure and a team player
  • IT literacy and good command of English and Swahili (Written and spoken)
