Launch of Tree Initiative at PUEA

Erroneous Report about PUEA by the Daily Nation Newspaper dated Friday 22nd June 2018.

Office of the Vice Chancellor

The attention of the University  Management has been brought to a newspaper article by the Daily Nation newspaper dated Friday 22nd June 2018 (page 10), to the effect that The Presbyterian University of East Africa (PUEA) has been asked by the Commission for University Education(CUE) to stop its on-going recruitement of students.

The University Management wishes to clarify that there is no such directive or communication by CUE to the University concerning its marketing efforts.

The Vice Chancellor has sought clarification on the matter with Prof. Chacha Nyaigoti Chacha, the Chairman, Commission for University Education – who has categorically denied giving out such information to the reporter, one Ouma Wanzala. According to the CUE Chairman, he was quoted out of context by the reporter. Prof. Chacha says that all matters concerning PUEA are being dealt with by the independent Special Advisory Committee (SAC) which is expected to submit its report to the Cabinet Secretary – Ministry of Education after completing its deliberation and that CUE is not privy to the writing of the report or its release.

In the meantime, the University Management  has written a complaint letter to the Nation Media Group for correction and CUE for appropriate action.

The Management is therefore requesting all PUEA stakeholders to disregard the press report and treat it with contempt it deserves.

We urge all PUEA students, staff, faculty and alumni to stay calm and to continue with daily activities and duties normally.

Thank you for supporting your institution.

 Prof. John K. Mungania, PhD-Ed.; HSC [M. A.; M. Div. B. A. (Hons.); B. Ed.]

Vice Chancellor, PUEA
